Larcome's butchers shop in Crossways Road c.1912, the shop is still existent today as Amery Vets and the front recognisable. Larcombe originally worked with Mitchell in Headley Road before starting on his own account at these then new premises in 1912. Of interest is that in the census and trade directories the name is spelt including a letter 'b', so possibly the spelling in the tile work, still visible today, is a mistake.

Three people in the picture are identified, extreme left - Ernest Larcombe, 2nd left - George Peskett, extreme right - Edmund Langridge.

The Moorlands Hotel, Portsmouth Road, Hindhead. Of topical interest with the recent demolition of these once grand premisses. The hotel was built about 1895 by John Grover, the London builder who later came to reside permanently at Hindhead and is buried in St.Lukes churchyard. Conan Doyle resided here whilst waiting for and overseeing the completion of 'Undershaw' from January to October 1897. This view from the main entrance on the Portsmouth Road side dates from about 1921 when tourism was beginning to return after the Great War.

Coxhead's shop, Headley Road about 1900. The shop which has recently closed after trading there since the mid 1890s was originally built as a single front building along with the next shop then trading as a fishmongers under the name of Hoy, later to become Woods in 1904. At this time the gap between was infilled and the side of Coxheads was extended to make both premisses double front shops as they are today.

Three of Funnell and Furlonger's horse drawn carriers vans at Haslemere station c.1910. These vans and horses were kept at Ash Villa, Headley Road from where the carriers business operated from about 1904 untill the late 1950s. Unfortunately the original image is in poor condition, the lettering on the middle vans reads 'Godalming Steam Sanitary Laundry', a contract which would have involved collecting laundry from local hotels and taking it to Haslemere station and thence by train to Godalming.
